I have lots of busy moms always ask me what are the best supermarket snacks. While I was compiling a list, I ran across this great article from Parents, “Parents 25 Best Healthy Snacks of 2011.” (Click on the title, and it will take you to the article.) I love Parents magazine. They have Registered Dietitians that work with them, so they always have great suggestions for healthy eating. I decided that their list was better than a list I could put together. So here is their list.
Late July Organic Dude Ranch Multigrain Chips (have omega-3 and fiber)
Goldfish Colors Neon (no artificial coloring)
Cascadian Farm Organic Oatmeal Raisin Kid-Sized Bars (fiber rich)
Bachman Gluten-Free Puzzle Pretzels
Tate’s Bake Shop Whole Wheat Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies
Thomas’ Whole Wheat Bagel Thins (5 grams of fiber)
Dole Ready Cut Strawberries, Peaches, and Bananas (good for when you run out of fruit)
Funky Monkey Applemon (dried apples)
Del Monte Pineapple wedges (the new orange slices?)
Tang’s Natural Vegetable Whole Wheat Dumpling (look yummy, but haven’t tried it yet)
GoGo Squeeze Applesauce
Alexia Waffle Cut Sweet Potato with Seasoned Salt (good Vitamin A source)
Terra Thai Basil Curry Exotic Vegetable Chips (counts as a serving of veggies)
YoGreek Yogurt plus Crunch (whole grains and 11 grams of protein)
Seaport Edamame Soybeans in Pods (we love these)
Wholly Guacamole 100 Calorie Snack Packs (my son loves avocado!)
Whole Grain Crispbread
Frigo Cheese Heads Fit and Fun Lovers Natural Cheese (my son loves all cheese!)
Jamba Yogurt and Sorbet Bars (have probiotics)
Yoplait Splitz Rainbow Sherbert (freeze or refrigerate)
Kozy Shack Cowrageous Pudding
Jiff Natural Peanut Butter Spread (doesn’t separate)
Earth’s Best Kidz Baked Popcorn Chicken (whole grains and antibiotic free)
Bear Naked Peak Energy Trail Mix, Cranberry Almond (nuts are choking hazards for under 4)
Tribe Origins Hummus, Tomato and Vegetable
I haven’t tried all of these, but nutritionally they all look really good. Go to the Parents article to see a picture of the product and where you can buy it online if you see any that spark your interest.
Have you tried any of these snacks before?
