What’s Your Why?
November 12, 2019Don’t Get Stuffed
November 25, 2019It’s almost here. Are you excited? Counting down the days?
You have everything planned right? Your game plan is ready.
- √ research
- √ shopping lists
- √ stores with best sales
- √ outfit picked out
- √ coordinated with your shopping partner
- X food plan
Huh?!? Food plan. You planned for everything else, but not your nutrition? You are going to wait in those long lines with all those grumpy people with the hangrys? I didn’t think so. Don’t worry. I got you covered. I’ll make it easy for you to eat healthy on Black Friday. You can borrow my game plan!
Breakfast
Something super easy and super quick. You have to get out the door at like 3 am right?!? Grab something that contains two food groups. Preferable protein and carbs. Here are some examples:
- Apple and a bag of nuts
- Yogurt and berries
- Protein bar and banana.
Water bottle!
Don’t forget your water bottle. You need to be hydrated to stay in the race long enough to save those dollars!!!
Snack time
When you are hungry, probably about three hours after you ate breakfast, its time to grab a snack. This is usually still early for me, so I typically like morning foods. It’s best to pack something from home so you don’t have to take away precious shopping time to stop for food. Must find more sales and eat healthy for Black Friday!!
- Apple and dark chocolate Kind bar. (my fav!)
- Pretzels and cheese
- Trail mix
Lunch
Okay, I don’t know about how hard core you are, but by lunch time I’m ready to welcome a break. Time to stop and grab something to eat. Look for a soup and salad place. I usually get a side salad and broth soup like chicken noodle at Panera Bread. If there is not one near you make sure you include your veggies and stay away from the fried food. It will zap your energy, and you might not make it to all the shopping on your list.
- Soup and Salad – Chicken Noodle Soup and Apple Salad
- Half Sandwich and Salad – Whole wheat bread and Broccoli Salad
Snack (optional)
- Hot tea – keeps the calories down, but still keeps you warm and hydrated. I love chamomile with a splash of honey.
Dinner
Your still going? You are a champ! And one serious Black Friday Shopper! Kuddos to you! Let’s make sure we keep adding the correct fuel to that fire then! Look for something where you can get 3-4 food groups in one meal.
- Lean protein, carbs, veggie – grilled chicken breast, brown rice, broccoli
- Shrimp Salad – shrimp, corn, lettuce
- Veggie Fajitas – wheat tortilla, peppers, beans
You did it! You survived a healthy Black Friday! I bet you didn’t even know such things actually existed!! It really can be simple. Make a plan and stick with it! If my plan doesn’t sound tasty to you, make your own! These are just a few suggestions to get you thinking about what you are going to eat to fuel your body for Black Friday. Want some customized advise for eating healthy over the holidays? I’d love to work with you!
