Navigate Christmas Parties while Losing Weight
December 2, 2019Snack Time
December 10, 2019Have a picky eater? Here is a good tip for you. Let the kids do the cooking! Okay, so it will really be highly supervised assistance if you have a little one like me, but you get the idea. Get them involved in the cooking process, and they will, most likely, be excited to try their own creation.
Remember when cooking with little ones, to allow lots of extra time and patience. The point is for them to have fun, not for everything to go perfect! As every mom knows, little ones attention spans are short, be prepared that you might have to finish the cooking by yourself.
I have been trying to think of ways to get my toddler involved with cooking and discovered Cheesy Feet. To get us started, first we traced his foot. We have tried this before during craft time, and it didn’t always go well, but today I caught him in a cooperative mood. You never know with toddlers!
While he was busy playing, I used a pastry cutter to cut the feet on pastry puff dough. I then cut small pieces of tomatoes to use as toenails. When he wandered back in to the kitchen he “helped” me grate the parmesan cheese. (Really read ate – he LOVES cheese!)
He then helped me sprinkle the cheese and the tomatoes onto the feet (between bites).
We baked them at 350 for 10 minutes. I think they turned out really cute, and as my son commented, “Yummy!” He only ate a little bit of the actual foot, but devoured all of the tomatoes from the feet!
First cooking experience with my toddler was successful! Hopefully, this will inspire you to bring your kids in the kitchen, and together cook something yummy! So let me know have you let your kids help cook in the kitchen? Do they enjoy helping you?
