December 10, 2019I’m not talking about sunflower seeds, but three other powerhouse seeds for your little ones.
Chia. A good source of fiber and 60 mg of calcium in each tablespoon. The seeds are so little they can virtually go undetectd in anything. Try them in smoothies and homemade popsicles.
Hemp. About 3 grams of protein in each tablespoon. For those over 2, stir together hemp “hearts” (shelled hemp seeds) with natural peanut butter, oats, and honey. Roll into balls for a snack.
Flaxseed. Provides heart-healthy omega-3 fats for only 34 calories in one tablespoon. Add ground flaxseed to yogurt and smoothies.
All of these seedscan be incorporated into muffins, pancakes, waffles, and bread without little ones noticing or caring. It is an easy way to add some extra nutrition to your foods.
Have you tried any of these seeds before? How do you use them?
