December 10, 2019Easter Safety, in an Eggshell + Natural Easter Egg Dyes
December 10, 2019In my mind, Valentine’s Day = chocolate, chocolate, chocolate.
So, naturally, it would just be wrong to not include some sort of chocolate SOMETHING in my post for this week.
This little dessert is really cute, and can be eaten on its own, or used to compliment something sweet and creamy!
The kiddos can even use some creative freedom with this one to give you the cutest little cookie you’ve ever seen, adding some fun memories to make them even better!
It’s also easy– I made it in my sorority house with no real kitchen! And they were a real hit with all of my roommates too. Fun, simple, easy, and delicious! How much better could it get?
All you need is:
– Wax paper
– One package of your favorite cookie or wafer, graham cracker, whatever
– 12 ounces of a high quality dark chocolate
– Different pink, red, and white garnishes (M&Ms, sprinkles, confetti hearts, etc.)
**I used sugar free shortbread cookies from HEB and strawberry wafers from the Dollar Tree, Ghirardelli dark chocolate melting wafers, Valentine’s day M&M’s, and pink sugar pearls. My selection (and budget!) were somewhat limited, so there are endless options of what you can use for your cookies.
Make sure you have your wax paper spread out wherever you are working! This can get messy 🙂
Break your chocolate into chunks, and either melt it in the microwave or over the stove. Whatever you do, make sure you don’t burn it! Check it every 20 seconds or so if you go with the microwave method.
Once the chocolate is melted, dip your cookie into the chocolate until about 2/3 of it is covered in the chocolate-y goodness.:) Are you getting excited yet?!
Scrape off the excess and add your garnishes before the chocolate hardens!
Lay cookie on the wax paper to dry for a couple of hours before you use them.
I let some of the girls in the house test them out for you guys, and my friend Elise gave it a ‘Gig ’em!’
These can be eaten by themselves, but that’s no fun! Whip up some creamy yogurt or ice cream and use them on top of that! I’m almost positive they can be added to anything. Have fun with it! They can also be packaged in plastic bags to give out as valentine’s treats at work, at your kid’s school Valentine’s Day party, or just because!
Enjoy!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
