Monkey See, [Monkey Hear]- Monkey Do
December 10, 2019Thanksgiving Fruit Turkey
December 10, 2019Happy summer, everyone! I personally couldn’t be more excited. I have a month of no school, and a kitchen full of neat gadgets and gizmos at my disposal all summer.
I’m still recovering from my last round of finals (it was rough y’all!), so I’ve been catching up on sleep. This morning as I awoke at the crack of 10:00, I was looking for a fun, quick, cute (what can I say, I love cute food), healthy, filling breakfast. That’s a lot of criteria for a breakfast dish to meet, but I found the perfect one, featuring a few of my favorite things. Great, now that song will be stuck in my head all day! Peanut butter, blueberries, and banana slices….these are a few of my favorite things. (And they tell me I’m not the funny one in my family.)
And this breakfast makes little bears. I don’t care who ya are, that’s stinkin’ cute. And it’s so simple that your little ones can join right in on the fun!
To make one little bear (oh my!), you need:
- 1 slice of bread
- 1 Tbsp creamy peanut butter (or almond butter, sunflower butter, whatever you fancy)
- 1 banana
- 3 blueberries
First you’ll need to toast the bread!
While the bread is toasting, slice your banana until you have three slices. What to do with the rest of the banana? I put mine into a ziploc bag to go into the freezer. We’ll have to find a fun smoothie recipe to use that for later!
Then spread the peanut butter on the bread so that it makes kind of a heart shape. Don’t spread it over the whole piece of toast! No, no no. Our bear needs to have a chin, after all! No chinless bears running around this kitchen.
Last step, take two of the banana slices and put them on each side of the top of the toast, like two ears. The last banana slice goes in the middle of the toast as the nose.
Two blueberries go beneath the two ears to act as eyes, and the last blueberry goes on top of the banana slice acting as the nose.
Side note: I just thought that I ate this before I took a picture of the final product. Never fear, I’m not THAT dumb/hungry.
It’s that good though! The kiddos will have fun with this one, it’s relatively mess free, and super quick and easy! Don’t forget to make one for yourself!
See y’all next week!
