October 26, 2020Hello, friends! If you don’t know by now, my name is Melissa Reid and I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist 🙂 I live in Columbus, Georgia with my three beautiful boys and amazing husband – I am also an army wife, meaning that I have lived all over the place, even overseas! Since my husband deploys often, balance has become a significant part of my life, especially in my job as a dietitian! When my clients are walking through their weight loss journey with me, I do not ask them to do the impossible. My weight loss philosophy is all about balancing meal plans to yield the best physical, mental, and emotional results. Dieting really can suck the joy and fun out of living – if you’ve ever dieted, you can probably relate!
Dieting does not set you up for a lifetime of success.
Restricting does not help you become mentally, emotionally, and physically stronger.
Weight loss does not have to suck the joy out of your life.
My Weight Loss Philosophy
Eating healthy should be simple, sustainable, and scrumptious.

Simple
When you are learning something new or difficult, there is always a series of steps to help you reach your goals. Imagine that you are learning to play basketball (I played basketball in high school!). Before you ever play a game, you have to learn the basics, typically by an experienced coach who knows a lot about the sport. You start out with simple drills, then eventually you don’t need your coach’s help to do them. That is what I want to do for you!! I want to teach you what I have spent years learning. Then, you can make good choices for YOURSELF. I want to give you the tools you need to be free from toxic diet culture. My goal is to make your transition into a healthier lifestyle as simple and painless as possible – life is hard enough already!

Sustainable
Learning something new is not any good if it isn’t sustainable long-term. Let’s pretend that right now, you are on Diet X. Diet X promises quick fat loss and results – all you have to do is cut out several food groups, record every single thing that you eat, amongst lots of other rules. You start to lose weight, but you are hangry all the time and all you want is a handful of Oreos. Well, you finally cave after a week and eat an entire package of Oreos. A cycle begins of following Diet X for a couple of days and then going into a bingeing rampage. Your weight loss/gain is all over the place. Um, say goodbye to Diet X – we don’t need any of her nonsense!
My coaching program exists to help you lose weight in a sustainable way – not by dieting, juices/cleanses/magic pills, major restrictions, or intense exercising. A healthy lifestyle begins with healing your relationship with food and helping you see that weight loss can be accomplished in even the craziest of lifestyles.

Scrumptious
Who said that the weight loss process had to involve bland, boring food? You will never catch me prescribing tasteless, unsatisfying meals! There is so much joy to be found in what you eat. Food is so much more than just fuel.
You deserve better than what social media and Google are throwing at you.
You are unique, special, capable, and beautiful.
Weight loss, done the right way, can amplify all the beautiful parts of you (inside and out!)
My goal is to help each and every one of my clients be confident in their own skin and have the capacity to live healthy for the rest of their lives! Life is too precious to waste it on stressful, short-lived diets and magic teas/pills. With my nutrition blueprint and personalized coaching, you will have all the tools you need to live your best life and find JOY in eating again!
