Navigate Christmas Parties while Losing Weight
December 2, 2019Snack Time
December 10, 2019First, you need the lunchbox. Online they have great compartmentalized bento boxes. I like LunchBots Duo Stainless Steel Food Container. For a more economical option, try EasyLunchboxes 3-compartment Bento Lunch Box Containers. If you waited until the last minute (like me), you should be able to find some options at most stores (Target, Walmart, etc.). Using a compartmentalized container, makes it easy to present the food well and makes it look more appealing to your child. (So they will hopefully eat all those veggies that you packed for them!) It also is easier and quicker for your child to eat since they just have to remove one lid, instead of opening several different packages.
Next, you need a few extras. (Okay, not really need, but it is nice!) Thermos help keep food warm. Try this one out: Thermos Foogo Leak Proof Stainless Steel Food Jar for kids. Sandwich cutters make that plain old P&B look that much yummier. These are fun: Lunch Punch Animal Shape Sandwich Cutters. Silicone cups keep the food organized and add fun color. I thought these were fun colors: Coloured Silicone Cupcake
Most importantly, you need healthy food to fill that lunchbox! Here are some ideas to get you started:
Main Dish
Whole Wheat sandwiches (use a variety of breads: bagels, tortillas, english muffins)
Pasta Salad
Wraps
Veggies
baby carrots
sugar snap peas
corn
cucumbers
tomatoes
Fruits
fresh
dried
canned (no syrup added)
Dairy
cheese
yogurt
Make sure that you pack half of their lunch as fruits and veggies. Hopefully this will get you started with some great healthy lunches for your kiddos. What are your kids’ favorite lunches that you make for them?
