Navigate Christmas Parties while Losing Weight
December 2, 2019Snack Time
December 10, 2019There is a lot of debate among nutrition experts if moms should sneak veggies into their kids’ meals. Here is the debate in a nutshell.
The problem with sneaking vegetables, is that kids will most likely never accept vegetables in their normal form. Therefore their diet will always be lacking in vegetables. (Unless you plan on mailing them their meals to college!) 🙂
vs.
By hiding vegetables, kids are getting some important nutrients that they would be lacking otherwise.
I believe that both sides have very valid arguments and agree with both. If your child refuses to eat any vegetables, but will gobble up some spaghetti sauce filled with pureed veggies, then by all means keep having spaghetti night! But make sure that you still put vegetables in their recognizable form on their plate as well.
Luckily, my toddler really likes his vegetables so I haven’t had to become a “sneaky chef.” If you are having a difficult time getting your child to eat vegetables, then go ahead and try some recipes that hide veggies. Make sure that you still fill half their plate with recognizable veggies!
Let me know. Have you tried sneaking veggies into your kids meals? How did it turn out?
